| The Gateway's Top Online Teacher Resources: Christmas, Hanukkah & Kwanzaa |
|
Use the free multimedia resources available on the The History Channel to engage your students as they learn more about each of these holidays. Check out the Christmas, Hannukah & Kwaanza mini-sites. The Scholastic site...
is another excellent resource. On Scholastic students can explore a scrapbook to learn about the history and traditions of these holidays. In the Christmas section of Scholastic, students learn about the birth of Jesus, hear stories about St. Nicholas from students around the world, trim the tree and more. In the Hannakuh section, students explore a scrapbook to learn about the history and traditions of Hanukkah. Similarly, in the Kwannza section students can learn about Maulana Karenga (who started the holiday in 1966), see the lighting of the Kinara and learn about a traditional Kwanzaa table setting. Each of these contain a teachers guide to help you use these resources effectively. Free is always nice - so if you are looking for printable or craft ideas check out DLTK's holiday site which has sections on Christmas, Hannakah and Kwanzaa as well as other holidays. We invite you to view other resources at the LessonGateway site or share your top rated Christmas, Hannukah or Kwaanza sites by filling in this online form for Christmas, Hanukkah or Kwanzaa.
