KidsClick: A safe search engine/directory for elementary students
This advertising free site is a great way to introduce elementary students to searching and web directories. Each listing contains a brief description as well the grade / reading level it is appropriate for. The site was created by librarians in the Catskill Library System, to try to address concerns about the role of public libraries in guiding their young users to valuable and age appropriate web sites.

I find the younger students struggle with online research as they want to go to google and are overwhelmed by too many results, most (or more often all) of which aren\'t appropriate for their reading level. KidsClick helps to overcome this problem - sites are prescreened, reading levels are indicated and the students only get a couple of results from their searches. A great place to start younger students (grades 3,4,5,6) off when learning how to do online research - highly recommended.
