Exploring the Environment (ETE)
The ETE website has a number of interdisciplinary, problem-based learning modules for high school students. The project engages student teams in addressing real-world problems related to global warming, land use patterns, weather, biodiversity, volcanoes, population growth, water and pollution. Students analyze remotely-sensed satellite images to come up with solutions to open-ended earth science problems - these are the problems that real scientists are working on today. Contains excellent supporting teacher resources. Activity titles include Mars Landing, Strangers in Paradise, Severe Weather: Hurricanes!, Weather or Not?, Yellowstone Fires, Coral Reefs, El Niño: The Child Returns, Florida Everglades, Global Climate Change, Korean Enigma, Mountain Gorillas, Rift Valley Fever, Temperate Rainforest, Tropical Poison, Volcanoes, Water Quality, Earth on Fire, and UV Menace.
