WALDEN: The Ballad of Thoreau

WALDEN: The Ballad of Thoreau

A two act, one set, four character play about the last days spent by Henry David Thoreau at his cabin before leaving Walden Pond. While the play can be performed at any time, the site encourages teachers to consider using it as an Earth Day event. Why? - because in addition to being the most quoted American writer in history, Thoreau is the father of the American environmental movement - a naturalist and earth lover. The script is available free in English, French and Spanish to schools, colleges, community theaters and homeschools. In addition to the script the website has a section for teachers with supporting materials including posters, handbills, radio PSA scripts and an eight page Walden Play Program. Registration is required.
