Integrating portraiture into the classroom provides opportunities for teachers to connect their students with history, biography, and visual art.  The portraits found on this website (created by the National Portrait Gallery) "One Life: The Mask of Lincoln" can be used as your students study Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War.   The site includes five lesson plans that are designed for grades 4–12 in U.S. history classes.
