The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History
The Gilder Lehrman Institute offers resources to assist teachers and students. This site offers a searchable database of over 60,000 primary source documents, American history quizzes, Battle Lines: Letters from America's Wars (students see actual letters written - have the option of having the text read to them), information on creating digital historical documentaries with your students, featured documents (these change - sign up to an email list to be notified), and podcasts by historians. Also included are modules on major periods in American history. The modules give an overview of the times, lesson plans, quizes and activities as well as films, documents and historic images.
